Create The Ultimate Team
Surrey County Cricket Club asked us to design and build an interactive microsite where members can pick the Greatest Surrey XI to have represented the club throughout the last 175 years.
The new site kicks off the celebrations for the 175th Anniversary of the Club, which takes place in the 2020 season.
Participants can pick an XI that features five specialist batsmen – one of which must be selected as a wicket-keeper – two all-rounders and four bowlers. They are also asked to nominate a captain within their playing XI before being given the option to share it with friends across social media.
Every player to have represented Surrey County Cricket Club in the County Championship is available for selection, covering 434 players since 1890. Henry Wood is the oldest player available for selection, a wicket keeper who represented Surrey 172 times between 1890-1900 and who was born in 1853. In contrast, the youngest player is 19-year-old Jamie Smith who made his Championship debut this summer.
The most voted for XI will be revealed on the 11th November and a presentation to the chosen XI will be made during the 2020 season and the chosen players will be the founding members of the Surrey County Cricket Club Hall of Fame.
