Digital Partnership with Ruth Strauss Foundation

In early 2020, we were approached by the Ruth Strauss Foundation to produce a new website that would be launched ahead of the charity’s second annual #RedForRuth Day. The website would act as an information hub for all patrons, ambassadors and followers to hear first about all upcoming events, news and updates, whilst housing a range of articles and resources for people dealing with the loss of a parents and loved ones, focussing predominantly on the impact that grief & loss can have on children.

We were honoured to receive the opportunity to work with the charity, and were equally proud to join the huge growing group of existing supporters by becoming the foundation’s official creative partner. A relationship we’ve seen flourish throughout the year, as we’ve continued to work closely with the RSF in moving the digital image of the charity forward.

Turning Cricket Red For Ruth

Early 2018, Ruth Strauss, wife of Sir Andrew Strauss the former England cricket captain, was diagnosed with an incurable lung cancer that affects non-smokers.  Sadly, on December 29th 2018, Ruth lost her life to cancer. She was 46 years old and mother to two children, then aged 10 and 13. In her memory, Sir Andrew has launched the foundation to; provide emotional support for families to prepare for the death of a parent from cancer and to raise awareness of the need for more research & collaboration in the fight against non-smoking lung cancers.

Each year, the Foundation host their inaugural #RedForRuth campaign, which invites the international cricket family of supporters to wear red, and show their support of the cause whilst raising money for families effected most by one of life’s toughest challenges. In support of this years event, the third Test of the #raisethebat Test Series 2020 was this the named ‘The Ruth Strauss Foundation Test’ with the opening day seeing the England team taking part, wearing special Ruth Strauss Foundation branded Test shirts with Red Caps being presented before play. All branding around the Emirates Old Trafford was also coloured red including the stumps and boundary boards.

WEB DESIGN

Creating A Clean Experience

The most important thing for us when creating this experience for users, was the minimal, clean and friendly aesthetic, that allows them to jump from event, blog, news article to support resource as quickly and as simply, as possible. The general page to page feel of the site needed to follow the family natured feel of the brand, whilst also matching the growing profile of the foundation appealing to commercial partners.

Perfectly Optimised for Mobile

Just because a website is mobile responsive, doesn’t mean it necessarily provides what we’ve grown to know is a good user experience. With existing statistics suggesting the large majority of visitors made their away around the website on their mobile phones, this became our priority. All areas of the website were designed from the mobile up, focussing on the ease of access to quick donation buttons, which was ultimately the intended end point of the user’s journey when arriving on the Ruth Strauss Foundation’s website.

Turning The Internet Red

Although this year we weren’t able to attend the #RedForRuth fixture at Lords, we made sure we didn’t miss the game which was televised on Sky Sport Main Event throughout all of the series. If you’re interested in the event, and want to hear a little more about all that went on, take a look at our article below!

CONSIDER DONATING

Fighting the lung cancers you don’t hear about.
Supporting the suffering you don’t see.

"This is an extremly important foundation and something that is very close to all our hearts. The Trustees spirit, passion and drive to help improve science and change lives clearly stood out on our first meet. It was immediately something we wanted to be involved in. If you want to help make a difference, please take a look at the website and share a donation."

UPDATE

New Donation Portal for #RedForRuth2021

We are absolutely bowled over to announce that the Ruth Strauss Foundation have raised an amazing £1,204,447.00 during the recent second LV= Insurance Test, an event that partnered the foundation.

We were approached by the RSF to provide a solution for them to take donations directly on the main Ruth Strauss Foundation website, which is something they had never done before on past Red For Ruth days. Traditionally, the website had served the purposed of directing followers and donators to JustGiving & VirginMoney, but in order to gain more advanced statistics and data from each donation the decision to launch a new donation platform was put into place.
